Nottinghamshire Healthcare achieves national accreditation for memory assessment services

Nottinghamshire Healthcare's Memory Assessment Services have been accredited by the Memory Services National Accreditation Programme (MSNAP), part of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

MSNAP accreditation is awarded following a rigorous peer-review process, ensuring services meet nationally agreed standards for assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing support for people affected by dementia and other memory disorders.

Ifti Majid, Chief Executive, Nottinghamshire Healthcare said:  This recognition reflects the Trust's commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and evidence-based care for people experiencing memory difficulties and dementia.   The accreditation is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the dedication and expertise of our teams who support patients and their families with the utmost care, dignity and respect.

The accreditation covers the Trust's Memory Assessment Services for Older People (over 65s), Young Onset Dementia Service (for under 65s) and the Therapeutic Intervention Service (post diagnosis).

The diagnostic and post diagnostic teams have been working towards achieving MSNAP for the last 3 years with all colleagues contributing with narrative and evidence for the 156 standards attached to the accreditation, as well as attending a peer review day held in June run by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and chaired by a panel of peer reviewers from other organisations.

The accreditation period is three years, subject to a satisfactory interim review.

Professor Martin Orrell, Director of the Institute of Mental Health said As Chairman of the MSNAP accreditation committee from 2009-2023, I am very aware of how rigorous the standards are. They are also underpinned by high quality evidence and research. This is a terrific achievement, and I am very proud that my own Trust has now achieved this marvellous accolade demonstrating very good quality memory services. Well done all!
