County Health Partnerships' Oral Health Promotion Team, part of Nottinghamshire Healthcare, has been named Oral Health Promoter of the Year for the second year running at the National Dental Awards 2015.

The team were also named finalists in the Team of the Year category, narrowly missing out to Arnold Dental Centre, also from Nottingham.

'The Tooth Fairies of Nottingham' Oral Health Promotion Team work throughout Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire County and Bassetlaw to improve the oral health of local adults and children. The team were recognised for their innovative ideas, helping to ensure that they stay at the forefront of oral health promotion. Working closely with front-line dental staff; dental practices; schools; nutritionists; and Stop Smoking services, the team work hard to tackle the inequalities within dental and oral health.

Speaking after the awards, Julia Wilkinson, Head of the Oral Health Promotion for the Trust said:

“We are extremely proud to receive this national recognition; it makes all the hard work worthwhile. The awards have received the largest ever amount of nominations so it is extra special to be a finalist, let alone a winner - again!”

This year was the seventeenth annual Dental Awards. Winners in each of the 19 categories were announced at a glittering black tie ceremony, held at Birmingham's NEC Hilton Metropole on 17 April. Each year, the highly-respected event brings together teams and individuals from across UK dentistry to celebrate the outstanding level of clinical care and patient service that they all provide. Winners receive a specially designed glass trophy. Shortlisted finalists also receive a certificate.

Anna Lambert, Chair of the judging panel and Editor of The Probe, added: “We had a record number of entries this year and I know that the judges found the incredibly high standard both humbling and inspirational.”
