Passionate and committed Notts nurses receive national award
Katie Grant, Community Nursing Team Leader-Rushcliffe and Cherry Rumsey, Community Matron for Nottingham West, at Nottinghamshire Healthcare, were recently awarded a national Cavell Star Award for their passion and commitment to ensuring patients receive excellent care.
Cavell Star Awards are given to nurses, midwives, nursing associates and healthcare assistants who shine bright and show exceptional care.
Katie was nominated for her passion, commitment, and leadership across nursing teams.
She has recently undertaken a dual role by stepping in to support patients, when extra district nurses were needed, whilst continuing to deliver in her role as clinical team lead. This is exceptional and demonstrates her commitment to ensuring patients get the best care.
Katie said: "I'm truly humbled to have received this award. I'm incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such an amazing clinical and leadership team who have all pulled together while I've been covering two roles, ensuring everything continues to move forward. Working with such dedicated and supportive people makes even the most challenging times so much easier."
Cherry was put forward for her outstanding work and commitment to wider teams. She has offered fantastic support to her colleagues in Eastwood. She has integrated exceptionally well with the team, her presence, leadership and overall support has been outstanding, always ensuring patients have the care and support they need.
A patient's daughter also recently shared her feedback on why Cherry is so outstanding:
"I can honestly say, without a shadow of a doubt, her efficient manner, ability to grasp exactly what needed doing at every stage, her reassurance, knowledge, compassion, honesty and guidance were totally invaluable.
Anyone who has the good fortune to have Cherry by their side during the most testing of times is truly very lucky indeed, and I will be forever grateful to her for how she has managed mums (and my) difficult journey."
Cherry said: "I was truly overwhelmed to receive this award it was a wonderful surprise. I am privileged to work alongside great teams that go the extra mile. Working collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes for patients really motivates me and I believe integrated working is vital to achieve this - we are better together"
Amy Eagle, Care Group Director of Community Health and Specialist Services at Nottinghamshire Healthcare said: "We are immensely proud of Katie and Cherry. Their dedication, compassion and willingness to go above and beyond for patients and colleagues truly shines through.
