Reassurance when families need it most - advice line marks five-year milestone

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating the fifth birthday of its Healthy Family Team Advice Line, marking five years of providing compassionate, practical support to families, parents and carers across the county. Since its launch in February 2021, the Advice Line has become a trusted lifeline for parents navigating the worries and challenges of raising children and young people. Alongside phone support, the same team also delivers ChatHealth and ParentLine, confidential text messaging services for families and young people.

Being a parent can be overwhelming. From sleepless nights and toddler tantrums to concerns about emotional wellbeing, behaviour and school pressures, it's easy to feel unsure of where to turn. The Healthy Family Team Advice Line offers reassurance, guidance and a listening ear when families need it most, helping them feel less alone and more confident in supporting their children.

The service provides advice on a wide range of topics, including children's emotional wellbeing, behaviour, routines, school concerns, relationships, and wider family pressures. Staffed by experienced professionals, the Advice Line combines empathy with practical, evidence-based strategies, while also signposting families to local health, community and voluntary services when needed. Its approachable, non-judgemental support allows parents to feel reassured, informed, and empowered.

In the last two months of 2025 alone, the team answered nearly 2,000 calls, showing that parents and carers continue to value accessible advice and reassurance.

Families consistently praise the Healthy Family Team Advice Line for its friendly, compassionate, and patient approach. Many highlight how staff take the time to truly listen, provide clear and practical advice, and offer reassurance when parents feel worried or overwhelmed. One parent described feeling calmer and more confident after a call, while another said the guidance they received helped them feel more informed and supported.
