Some of our services now offer video consultations. You should speak to your clinician if this is something you would like them to consider. You can find out more about video consultation here.

Mental Health Liaison - Bassetlaw

The Liaison Psychiatry team provides a service for patients in a general hospital setting, who are aged over 18 and either present to the Emergency Department, or are admitted to an inpatient ward and are experiencing mental health problems.

Services include;

  • specialist mental health assessments
  • advice, guidance and support to patients, their families and carers
  • Alongside these services, we offer education and training to general hospital staff, raising awareness and reducing stigma around mental health conditions as well as improving rates of early referral of patients to specialist mental health services.

The service is available to;

  • Any adult (age 18+) presenting with a mental health emergency illness.
  • 16 – 18 year olds between 5.00 p.m and 8.00 a.m. (Out of hours will be seen and sign-posted to relevant specialist services at the earliest opportunity the next working day).
  • Adult in-patients of Bassetlaw District General Hospital of any age presenting with symptoms of functional or organic illness during in-patient stay.
