Dementia Action Week

Dementia Action Week takes place from 19 to 25 May led by the Alzheimer's Society. The week raises awareness of the importance of an early diagnosis for people affected by dementia.
Diagnosis is vital to give people access to the care, treatment and support they desperately need. Yet 1 in 3 people with dementia do not have a diagnosis.
Catherine Pickance, Consultant Occupational Therapist in our Older People Care Unit said, "The early detection and early diagnosis of Dementia is crucial to individuals and their families. It allows timely access to personalised support, early treatment and intervention to enhance quality of life.
"Early diagnosis empowers individuals and their families to access the right information and gain a greater understanding to help to plan and prepare for the future."
