OSCARS 2026: Meet the finalists of the Leadership Award

Leadership award

Nottinghamshire Healthcare is counting down to the Outstanding Service Contribution and Recognition Scheme (OSCARS) Awards Ceremony on 6 November. The OSCARS celebrates the dedication of our volunteers, colleagues and Bank workforce. It’s an opportunity to recognise the people whose hard work, compassion and commitment make a positive difference to the communities we serve.

This year, we received almost 900 nominations from patients, carers and colleagues. After weeks of carefully reviewing every entry, our judges have selected the finalists for the 2025/26 OSCARS.

Today we’re focusing on our finalists for the Leadership Award, sponsored by BT. This category recognises individuals who inspire and empower those around them through outstanding leadership.

Annabel EastersOur first shortlisted nominee is Annabel who is an inspiring leader whose dedication has made a lasting impact on wound care services, patient outcomes and colleague development. Through her leadership, national wound care guidance has been successfully implemented across services, helping to embed evidence-based practice and improve the quality and consistency of care. She has also played a key role in adopting pressure ulcer categorisation standards and the Purpose T risk assessment tool, strengthening prevention, assessment and learning.

Adam JacksonNext comes Adam, an exceptional leader within the Live Team at Highbury and Sherwood Oaks, championing meaningful activities as a vital part of inpatient care and recovery. His innovative training programme has helped colleagues understand the value of purposeful engagement, while also creating opportunities for Activity Co-ordinators to develop their skills, share best practice and feel recognised through the successful AC Network Days.

Kayleigh EvansOur third finalist is Kayleigh. Kayleigh is an exceptional Ward Manager whose compassionate leadership and unwavering commitment to both patients and colleagues make a real difference every day. During an incredibly challenging period, she provided empathetic, visible leadership, ensuring colleagues felt supported, heard and empowered. Her proactive work to develop a witness support pack has offered invaluable guidance and wellbeing support to colleagues navigating the inquest process, with the resource now being considered for wider use across the hospital.

Marie McGaheyCompleting the shortlist for the Leadership Award is Marie! Marie has demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout her 32-year nursing career, helping to transform services and improve outcomes for people with intellectual disabilities. She played a pivotal role in establishing the Primary Care Liaison Team and supporting the rollout of annual health checks, strengthening partnerships between community services and GP practices. Her work has delivered real results, including increased engagement with bowel screening programmes and improved access to health checks for underserved communities.

We’ll be announcing the winner on 6 November on our website and social media channels.

Our awards wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. Our Gold sponsors are TPP, Isla Health, The Compassionate Mind Foundation, Hill Dickinson and BT. We've also been supported by Fleet Care Ltd, Mills & Reeve and Merrymeet Marketing.
