OSCARS 2026: Meet the finalists of the Outstanding Care and Compassion Award

Outstanding Care and Compassion Award

Nottinghamshire Healthcare is counting down to the Outstanding Service Contribution and Recognition Scheme (OSCARS) Awards Ceremony on 6 November. The OSCARS celebrates the dedication of our volunteers, colleagues and Bank workforce. It’s an opportunity to recognise the people whose hard work, compassion and commitment make a positive difference to the communities we serve.

This year, we received almost 900 nominations from patients, carers and colleagues. After weeks of carefully reviewing every entry, our judges have selected the finalists for the 2025/26 OSCARS.

Today we’re focusing on our finalists for Outstanding Care and Compassion Award, sponsored by The Compassionate Mind Foundation. This award recognises those who consistently demonstrate kindness, empathy and compassion, ensuring patients, service users and carers receive exceptional care and support.

Jaysie GorewodaFirst on our list of finalists is Jaysie! Jaysie brings energy, creativity and compassion to Hercules Ward, helping young people feel supported, valued and understood every day. Through her positive attitude and ability to build strong therapeutic relationships, she creates meaningful connections with patients, helping them communicate, navigate challenges and find moments of joy, even on their most difficult days.

Neil Keetch and Gemma MasiniOur second shortlisted nominees are Neil and Gemma! When a trainer became seriously unwell during a training session, Neil and Gemma responded with remarkable calm, teamwork and compassion. Their professionalism, reassurance and ability to remain calm under pressure helped ensure the individual received the urgent care they needed.

Louise WilkinsNext up is Louise! As Team Leader at The Health Shop, Louise supports people who may struggle to access mainstream drug and sexual health services, always putting compassion and dignity at the heart of her work. During an outreach session, Louise met a vulnerable woman who was inadequately dressed for the cold weather. Without hesitation, she gave the woman the leggings she was wearing, ensuring she was warmer, safer and treated with dignity.

Hercules WardOur fourth finalist is Hercules Ward, our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for young people, is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centred care for young people with complex mental health needs. The team works closely with young people to ensure their voices are heard, using creative and age-appropriate approaches to help them understand, shape and achieve their goals. Through their calm communication, kindness and support, they create an environment where young people feel safe, respected and empowered.

We’ll be announcing the winner on 6 November on our website and social media channels.

Our awards wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. Our Gold sponsors are TPP, Isla Health, The Compassionate Mind Foundation, Hill Dickinson and BT. We've also been supported by Fleet Care Ltd, Mills & Reeve and Merrymeet Marketing.
