The Step in to Health programme was developed in conjunction with Health Education England, NHS Employers and a number of other NHS Partners), The Royal Foundation and Walking With The Wounded. It provides a dedicated pathway for the Armed Forces community to access the numerous career opportunities available in the NHS. Members of the Armed Forces community can be defined as individuals that identify as a reservist, veteran, service leaver, spouse or partner, dependent or cadet leader. The programme was initially piloted across five Trusts.
In May 2018, our Board pledged the support of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to the programme. HR colleagues have started to attend relevant events and a full action plan is being developed.
The Trust already recognises the value of employing reservists and as such was awarded the Gold Covenant in recognition of supporting reservists in 2016.
