Trust reaches 10,000 feedback milestone and ranked first in the country for staff responses

Trust has reached an important milestone, with more than 10,000 stories now shared on the independent patient feedback platform, Care Opinion. This marks over a decade of listening to the people who use our services, learning from their experiences, and using their insights to strengthen the care we provide across the Trust.

Care Opinion is a national, non-profit website that enables patients, carers and families to share honest reflections on their experiences of health and social care. For Nottinghamshire Healthcare, it has become much more than a place to publish feedback. It is a vital tool for understanding what matters to people, celebrating excellent practice and identifying where improvements are needed.

Each story offers a unique glimpse into what it is like to receive care from our teams. Many highlight the dedication, compassion and professionalism of staff across a wide range of services. Others have helped us recognise areas where we can do better, whether that is improving communication, enhancing access to services or strengthening the support offered to patients and carers.

In addition to reaching this milestone, Nottinghamshire Healthcare is now ranked first out of 35 organisations for the number of staff listening, learning and acting on feedback through Care Opinion. This means that more stories shared by patients, carers and families are being read, acknowledged and turned into meaningful improvements. It reflects the commitment of colleagues across the Trust to respond with empathy, to celebrate what is working well, and to make changes where they are needed most.

Diane Hull, Chief Nurse at Nottinghamshire Healthcare, said: Our patients, carers and families place enormous trust in us when they share their experiences, and reaching 10,000 stories is a powerful reminder of how important it is that we continue to listen. I am incredibly proud that Nottinghamshire Healthcare is leading the way nationally for staff engagement on Care Opinion. It shows the compassion and dedication of our teams, who read every story, reflect on what it tells us, and use it to make care safer, kinder and more responsive. Every piece of feedback - positive or challenging - helps us learn, and I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share their voice.

Ashley Bertie, Associate Director for Participation, Coproduction and Carer Experience, said:  This milestone belongs to the people who use our services. Their willingness to share honest, personal reflections has helped shape real improvements across the Trust. To be recognised as the top organisation for listening and learning through Care Opinion is a testament to our staff, who take feedback seriously and act on it. Care Opinion has become a cornerstone of how we understand what matters to people, and we are committed to making sure every story continues to influence the way our services develop. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to this journey.

Reaching 10,000 stories is the result of many years of collective effort. Patients, carers, families and colleagues have all played a part, and the Trust has worked continuously to make sure people can share feedback in a way that suits them - whether online, through forms or by phone.

Although this milestone is significant, it is not an end point. The Trust will continue to champion patient and carer voices and ensure that what people tell us directly influences the way services are shaped and delivered. Listening helps us learn, and learning helps us improve.

Tracy Molloy, Subscriber Services Manager at Care Opinion said, For over a decade, Care Opinion and Nottinghamshire Healthcare have shared a partnership rooted in a common purpose - placing patients at the heart of care. It has been our privilege to work alongside exceptional staff, supporting pioneering approaches to online patient feedback across both mental health and community health services. Nottinghamshire Healthcare has consistently set the benchmark for how to listen to and learn from patient voices.

Together, our collaboration has driven trailblazing innovation within high secure forensic mental health settings, inspiring organisations across the country to follow suit. We are proud to celebrate Nottinghamshire Healthcare's milestone of more than 10,000 stories shared and responded to on the Care Opinion platform.

One patient who was supported by the Bassetlaw Community Therapy Team after breaking their shoulder and hip spoke about the impact the service had on their recovery. Living alone, they explained they were very worried I wouldn't be able to look after myself following the fall. After discharge, the team provided regular home visits, helping with daily tasks and offering reassurance. The patient said it was an excellent service and praised the team for treating them as an equal , adding that their support gave me the confidence to get independent again and the hope that I can continue to do so.

The Trust is grateful to everyone who has taken the time to share their experience. Every story matters, and every story makes a difference. To share your experience or read feedback submitted through Care Opinion, please visit the Care Opinion website.
