Nottinghamshire Healthcare’s Facilities Management Team has been shortlisted in the national Health Estates and Facilities Management Association (HEFMA) annual awards.  Shortlisted in the People Development Award category for engaging and successfully implementing the Prince’s Trust 'Get Into' programme, to help young people in to work.

The Programme supports young people between the ages of 18-30 who are unemployed or otherwise able to learn and develop. The Programme provides young people with the opportunity to gain skills and experience within facilities including catering, domestic services, retail, switchboard, portering and admin. This enables them to progress into training and/or employment within the organisation.

Alison Wyld, Executive Director of Finance and Estates at Nottinghamshire Healthcare said:

“Huge congratulations to the team for this fantastic achievement. This work provides such a great opportunity for young people, and the team do a brilliant job supporting them at the start of their career journey. Having a diverse workforce enables us to continue to develop effective services. It’s great to see how positive this experience has been for young people and to see this work recognised nationally. Good luck to the team for the next stage.”

The programmes in 2022 and 2023 have led to seven young people gaining employment within Facilities. We aim to continue with their mentoring and development to help them progress in their career. These candidates have shown great determination and have grown in confidence.

Mandy Turton, Head of Facilities said:

“This has been a great experience for everyone involved. The young people we supported felt valued and cared for and were very grateful of the extra guidance they received. This in turn has left us with dedicated and keen individuals to support us in delivering excellent care to patients and staff. We hope more young people will get involved in future programmes.”

Winners will be announced on Thursday 25 May. More on the awards here: HEFMA
