Vaccines have brought us closer, and will bring us closer again

World Immunisation Week runs 24-30 April. The School Aged Immunisation Team are continuing to offer routine vaccinations to young people. The team are visiting schools in Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire and Bassetlaw.

For over 200 years, vaccines have protected us against diseases that threaten lives.  There has never been a more important time to ensure your children are receiving their routine vaccinations to ensure they have the best possible chance of avoiding infectious diseases.

The School Aged Immunisation Service are currently delivering the following vaccinations to young people in school years 8, 9 and 10:

• The 3 in 1 booster vaccination protects against 3 separate diseases: tetanus, diphtheria and polio.

• The meningococcal ACWY vaccine protects against 4 types of bacteria that cause meningitis.

• The HPV Immunisation protects against cervical cancer, some mouth and throat cancers and some anal and genital cancers.
