Our Strategy

As a Trust, our purpose is to make a difference to people's lives. We help people live safer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives and treat them with kindness, respect, and reliability. We work in local communities, neighbourhoods, and specialist services, caring for people at every stage of life, including those who are most vulnerable. That has not changed. What has changed is our shared understanding of what it takes to deliver that care well, consistently and sustainably.

In recent years, the Trust has faced significant challenges. We continue to develop as a learning organisation, taking time to pause, reflect and listen to people who use our services, their families and carers, and our colleagues. These reflections, and what people have told us, have shaped us. They have sharpened our focus on what really matters and strengthened our resolve to do better, together.

This strategy sets out a clear and grounded ambition for Nottinghamshire Healthcare, which is: 

• We put people first, caring for people as they wish to be treated, with patients, families and carers leading and shaping decisions.
• We join up care, working together locally to provide care and security to people in our communities.
• We support our people with the training, tools and compassionate leadership they need to do their best work.
• We use our resources wisely and responsibly to support people most in need at the right time.

It reflects what colleagues have told us they need to do a good job, to feel supported, trusted and valued, and what our communities expect from us. Within the resources available, and with financial sustainability as a fundamental principle, this is our commitment - to care first, to work as one Trust and to build a future we can all be proud of.
