South Nottinghamshire Respiratory Services
We are a community-based service providing multidisciplinary, evidence-based support for patients with diagnosed respiratory conditions within Rushcliffe, Nottingham West and Nottingham North and East Primary Care Networks. We have three teams:
Specialist community respiratory nurses
We provide a comprehensive/specialist Respiratory and Holistic assessment of patients with respiratory conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Pulmonary fibrosis, Bronchiectasis and chronic asthma. We aim to help you self-manage your condition to improve your quality of life, also to reduce admission rates and individualise treatment for your stage of respiratory disease. We work with GPs, Practice Nurses, Respiratory Consultants, and the broader Community Teams to further enhance patient care and signpost to other services to ensure patient care is at the centre of what we do.
Home oxygen service
We provide oxygen assessment in the home following assessment and initiation within secondary care. This includes long-term oxygen therapy, ambulatory oxygen therapy and oxygen for cluster headaches. We ensure appropriate assessment, treatment and prescription of the correct oxygen therapy to enhance quality of life for patients in line with the British Thoracic Society guidelines.
Pulmonary rehabilitation team
We offer an evidence-based intervention that can improve quality of life in respiratory patients. This includes 12 sessions over a six week period, in line with British Thoracic Society guidelines, for patients with specific respiratory conditions. The specialist physiotherapists, nurses and exercise clinical physiologist who run the courses deliver a comprehensive holistic assessment, exercise session and education package on managing long-term respiratory conditions.
