Brew Monday: Improving our own mental wellbeing

Brew Monday falls on 17 January and is thought to be the most depressing day of the year.

A combination of post-Christmas blues, cold, dark weather and the tightening of purse strings may be some of the reasons why January can feel like a long and difficult month to get through. These pressures are said to peak on Brew Monday and can spark feelings of depression, sadness and general low motivation. However, there is no science behind this and feeling low and depressed can happen at any time. 

Our Let’s Talk-Wellbeing Service, who provide a range of talking therapies for common mental health problems, offer some top tips on how we can all boost our mood and provide some excellent advice for any time of the year:

Crisis Sanctuaries: Crisis sanctuaries are available at different locations across Notts. They provide a safe space and help and advice to people experiencing mental health challenges. For locations & opening times:

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS): Our CAMHS service supports young people with mental health issues. Your GP can refer into the service or young people aged 12 to 18 years old with a Notts GP can self-refer. Find out more:
