National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP)
The NCMP is commissioned by Nottinghamshire County Council and is hosted by the Healthy Family Team and offered to all Primary Schools in Nottinghamshire.
Every year children in reception and year 6 will be offered the opportunity to have their height and weight taken. This quick and easy process takes place in school and is confidential. If your child appears outside the expected range of height or weight, you will be offered the opportunity to discuss this with your local Healthy Family Team, who can signpost local services if appropriate, to support your child's health and wellbeing journey.
The NCMP Process:
- Parents / carers receive a letter from school about the NCMP process coming into school.
- Parents / carers can opt in or out.
- Resources are shared with schools to promote health and wellbeing as well as the NCMP - this also prepares children for the activity.
- Measurements are carried out in school. They are confidential and nobody can see your child's weight; it goes straight into a computer.
- Coats and shoes will be taken off for a more accurate measurement.
- You will only receive a letter from The Healthy Family Team if your child appears outside the expected range of measurement.
- Parents / carers can talk to the Healthy Family Team for guidance and support.
Working together, supporting the health and wellbeing of your family is important to us.
