Liaison Psychiatry

We work across Sherwood Forest Hospitals, Bassetlaw District General Hospital and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

We assess people quickly when there are concerns about their mental health. We accept referrals for anyone aged 18 and over.

Referrals can come from:

  • Emergency Departments at each hospital
  • Acute inpatient wards (with the exception of labour and maternity wards)

People may be referred if they:

  • Have self-harmed
  • Are feeling suicidal
  • Are in a mental health crisis
  • May have dementia or delirium

We also support hospital staff. Clinicians can contact us for advice on how to care for patients with possible mental health problems.

Accessing our service

Referrals are accepted for patients of the acute hospitals as above including inpatients and those in the Emergency Department. We can only accept referrals from clinicians at the acute hospitals.

Referrals can be made by telephone or fax 24 hours per day.
