Rapid Response Liaison Psychiatry

We work across Sherwood Forest Hospitals, Bassetlaw District General Hospital and Nottingham University Hospitals.

We provide rapid assessment of patients who are referred due to concerns about their mental health. Our teams accept referrals for any patient over the age of 16 from either the Emergency Department at each hospital or from the inpatient wards. The patients may have self-harmed, be suicidal, in acute mental health crisis or have a possible dementia or delirium. We also provide a liaison service to clinicians in the hospitals who want advice on the management of patients with possible mental health problems.

Our service also incorporates a Substance Misuse Liaison team (SMLS) at Nottingham University Hospitals which takes referrals for patients with drug and/or alcohol problems.

Accessing our service

Referrals are accepted for patients of the acute hospitals as above including inpatients and those in the Emergency Department. We can only accept referrals from clinicians at the acute hospitals.

Referrals can be made by telephone or fax 24 hours per day.
