Celebrating our 2025 OSCARS winners - A record-breaking year of recognition
We are proud to celebrate the incredible winners of this year's OSCARS - our Outstanding Service Contribution and Recognition Scheme. The 2025 ceremony marked a record-breaking year, with over 900 nominations submitted by colleagues, patients, carers and families - the most we've ever received!
Hosted by Nottingham-born TV and radio presenter Emma Caldwell, the evening was filled with inspiration, pride and heartfelt celebration. Our winners were recognised for their compassion, innovation, teamwork and dedication to delivering exceptional care across our Trust.

Unsung Hero Award - Clinical
Jill Baxter Family Support Worker - Pebble Bridge
Jill is a truly outstanding colleague whose warmth, empathy, and dedication shine through in everything she does.
In the Autism clinic and group settings, she is a pillar of strength for families, offering support during some of their most difficult times. Families consistently say their positive experience with CAMHS is down to Jill's individualised care - she remembers even the smallest details, making people feel heard and valued.
Jill was instrumental in launching a therapeutic group for neurodiverse girls, recognising their need for connection and tailored support. Her commitment went far beyond expectations on a recent snow day, she personally drove to clinic to ensure a family understood their appointment was cancelled.
Jill's compassion, passion and advocacy make her the heart of the service, and someone any family would be lucky to have by their side.
Unsung Hero Award - Non Clinical
Caroline Guilford - Health and Wellbeing Administrator
Caroline is deeply passionate about making the Trust's wellbeing offer accessible, equitable, and visible to all colleagues. Despite reduced staffing and limited resources, she goes above and beyond delivering roadshows, promoting the service, and stepping in wherever needed.
She is often the first point of contact for distressed colleagues and always responds with compassion, calm and a genuine willingness to help. With over 24 years in the NHS, Caroline is a reliable, knowledgeable team player who supports everything from admin to crisis cover - she even stepped in for the Staff Counselling Service over Christmas.
Caroline often says she's lucky to love her job, but in truth, the team feels lucky to work with her. Her humour, warmth and dedication make a real difference every day.
The Leadership Award
Natasha Garroway-Charles - General Manager
Natasha is a visionary leader who has transformed Arnold Lodge into a thriving, high-performing service, with one of the most improved NHS Staff Survey results in the Trust for 2024.
Her inclusive and compassionate leadership empowers colleagues, enhances patient care and fosters lasting improvements.
As Co-Chair of the EMBrace Staff Network, she has driven impactful initiatives, most notably the Racism and Allyship training and a highly praised inaugural EMBrace conference.
Natasha leads with purpose, courage and integrity, inspiring unity, equity and innovation that benefit both colleagues and the communities they serve.
Team of the Year Award - Non Clinical
Freedom to Speak Up Champions - Trustwide
The Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Champions Team have been shortlisted in the Team of the Year Award - Non Clinical. They have shown exceptional dedication to creating a culture of openness, trust, and psychological safety across the Trust.
With over 100 Champions from all Care Groups, both clinical and non-clinical, they empower colleagues to speak up which has lead to better communication, inclusivity and safety for all. From supporting roadshows and site visits to testing new systems and hosting development sessions, they continually go above and beyond.
Champions have also supported underrepresented groups and contributed to strategic events, including Board sessions and the ICS conference.
Their outstanding communication and compassionate approach help reduce barriers and foster real change. By championing staff voices and working closely with the FTSU Guardians, they ensure concerns are heard, valued and acted upon - making speaking up a normal part of everyday Trust life.
Team of the Year Award - Clinical
Community Stroke Team - Community Health Care Group (South)
The Community Stroke Team have been described as the most efficient and effective team encountered in the NHS. They deliver seamless, integrated care with outstanding communication, professionalism, and compassion. This team places patients' needs first, responding with attentiveness, innovation, and urgency - once even helping prevent a potential sepsis diagnosis through swift action.
They liaise effortlessly with GPs, hospitals and community partners, ensuring timely and coordinated care. Their creative, team-based approach helps stroke patients overcome complex challenges, promoting recovery and improving quality of life. Regularly setting tailored activities and explaining treatment clearly, they empower patients to remain motivated and informed.
Their reliability, advanced clinical skills, mutual trust and person-centred ethos exemplify the best of NHS care. The team's impact is profound, and their dedication truly life-changing.
Quality Improvement/Research Excellence Award
Winner - SafeNow Project Team (QI)
The SafeNow team lead on the development of the SafeNow Dashboard, created to support the Trust's drive to improve care quality following CQC findings and the Section 48 review.
This real-time tool allows for the assessment of patient safety and risk, tracking actions taken by clinical teams. SafeNow enables the review of key safety metrics, including waiting times and restrictive practices and ensures accuracy through data triangulation.
Developed in a short timeframe, the dashboard has fostered ownership of patient quality issues at operational levels and increased confidence in improvements at committee and board levels.
The SafeNow team is comprised of colleagues from across various data and analytics areas and their commitment, collaboration with colleagues and inclusive governance structure have driven significant improvements and innovation across the Trust. Sponsored by #IslaHealth.
Highly Commended - Gillian Crawshaw (QI) Specialist Neurodiversity Clinician
Gillian has pioneered the development of a sensory and neurodiversity pathway across regional prisons, supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities.
She has created psychoeducational training for prison staff - improving understanding and enabling environments that reduce distress and support engagement. Most recently, she scoped and developed a new pathway at HMP Morton Hall, a unique and complex setting for foreign nationals. Through assessment clinics, colleague collaboration and a detailed needs analysis, her work led to the appointment of the first Neurodiversity Practitioner at the site.
Gillian brings deep expertise in occupational therapy and prison healthcare, and her advocacy has transformed care standards across offender health. Her commitment to equity and inclusion for neurodivergent individuals in custody is exceptional and deeply impactful.
The Outstanding Care and Compassion Award - Winner
Dr Catherine Andrews - Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Catherine Andrews, Consultant Psychiatrist has been nominated in Outstanding Care and Compassion Award. Known as Kanky, she has been recognised by the family of a patient for her exceptional care, compassion and dedication in the treatment of their father.
Kanky consistently went above and beyond to ensure their father received thoughtful, personalised care. Her ability to connect on a deeply human level gave comfort, encouraged engagement and helped maintain trust.
She supported the family with warmth and kindness by accommodating appointments, being available when needed, and offering unwavering reassurance through to the end-of-life period and beyond.
Kanky's leadership shaped a team whose compassion matched her own, leaving a lasting impact on the family.
Volunteer of the Year Award
Youth Impact Board - Trustwide
This is an inspiring new initiative, bringing together young volunteers to shape the future of services. Though still in its early stages, it is already championing youth voice and inclusion.
Board members are beginning to engage with young people from underrepresented communities - including those in care, excluded from education, or in the youth justice system - helping to identify the barriers they face.
Their commitment to representing young people's voices is creating positive change and early co-production work with colleagues is exploring how youth feedback can meaningfully influence service improvement.
The Environmental Impact Award
Carol Nesbitt - Teaching Assistant
Carol saw potential in an overgrown courtyard garden at Hopewood and set about transforming the space.
Over the course of a year, with help from volunteers, Carol cleared overgrown shrubs and planted new life into the garden. Her students contributed to a table and chairs which they decorated with uplifting messages to encourage reflection and positivity.
The result is a peaceful oasis, now used by colleagues for quiet breaks and wellbeing moments. Patients can also enjoy the calming view from their classroom.
Driven by compassion, creativity and care for others, Carol is already planning a second garden designed for direct patient use.
Educator of the Year Award
Winner - Suicide Prevention Training Team, Trustwide
The Suicide Prevention Training Team formed two years ago, the team has made a significant impact by delivering essential full-day Suicide Awareness and Response training to over 2,000 colleagues since the start of 2023.
They have also enhanced and provided additional support related to suicide, self-harm and clinical safety.
Feedback consistently praises the team's high-quality training, noting their flexibility, empathy and compassion. Colleagues highlight the team's ability to promote psychological safety in challenging, emotional sessions, particularly with those affected by suicidality and bereavement.
The team's dedication to values and compassionate approach has made them a trusted resource for colleagues.
Highly commended - Healthy Families Team, Practice Teachers
The Healthy Families Team Practice Teachers were nominated for outstanding contribution to client care, training and the overall improvement of services for children and families. They ensure high-quality, specialist care within the community, working closely with managers and the local authority to deliver the core offer.
Their clinical expertise drives best practice, enhancing care quality across the 0-19 agenda. By promoting effective leadership and teamwork, they ensure seamless, safe and responsive services.
Investing in the future workforce, the team offers strong mentorship and robust training for students, receiving exceptional feedback. Their dedication, hard work and leadership have made a significant impact on both colleagues and patient care.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award
Winner - Jade Farrell, Head of Quality Standards
Jade has shown exceptional commitment to inclusive care within forensic secure services, embedding co-production at the heart of service improvement.
She developed Service Users Have Talent to increase engagement beyond traditional meetings, improving accessibility for individuals with learning disabilities and autism.
Her work includes a regional co-production strategy uniting nine providers, boosting engagement by up to 162%.
She ensures accessibility through sign language interpreters and non-traditional participation routes creating inclusive environments where every voice is valued.
Highly commended - Cllr. Tania Stevenson, Business Support Administrator
Tania has done outstanding work to raise awareness of the transgender community in Nottingham.
Last year she held a Pride in the Flag event at the gender clinic. The event was powerful and uplifting, showcasing diverse stories from across the trans universe and celebrating individuality. It was a fantastic advert for the clinic, the Trust, and the NHS.
Her public advocacy and visibility in the media on equality, diversity and inclusion has inspired many.
Her nominee said, Our community really needs good, lively and outspoken role models right now - Tania is a real gem.
The Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr Hani Ghanem
Dr Hani Ghanem has dedicated over 40 years to the NHS, shaping patient care and supporting colleagues with quiet strength, wisdom, and compassion. Known for his encyclopaedic knowledge, calm presence, and tireless commitment - often working beyond the 9 to 5 - he's been a mentor to many and a fierce advocate for patient-centred care. Even in retirement, and after a period of ill health, he returned with the same passion and energy that have earned him deep respect across generations. A truly deserving recipient of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award.
