Vision, values and five year strategy
It's important that as an organisation we plan for the future, including our role within the wider health and care system and beyond.
The Trust's strategy document sets out the direction of the Trust for the next five years. It defines who we are, what our priorities are, the outcomes they will deliver and when they will be delivered. It will inform everything from significant service level decisions through to individual objectives for staff with a view to delivering improved outcomes for our patients and service users.
The strategy details the ways in which we will improve the delivery and quality of care, support our workforce and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
Our vision
We know that our staff come to work to 'Make a Difference', so our Vision for the next five years is to 'make a difference to the communities we serve by delivering the highest quality physical and mental health care to our patients, and by tackling inequalities in outcomes, experience and access.
To do this we all need to work together and to live and breathe our Trust values: Trust, Honesty, Respect, Compassion and Teamwork.

Following a serious homicide incident in 2023, the Trust was subject to heightened scrutiny, including a Section 48 (S48) report and placement into Level 4 of the National Oversight Framework (NOF). In response, the Trust refocused its strategic efforts around the development and delivery of a comprehensive Integrated Improvement Plan (IIP), designed to address all recommendations from the Section 48 report and meet the criteria to transition from NOF Level 4 into NOF Level 3.
Whilst the IIP has become the primary vehicle for strategic improvement, it remains congruent with the Trust's overarching strategy, providing targeted focus on priority areas identified through external review. This approach ensures continuity of strategic direction while accelerating improvements in quality, safety, governance, and leadership.
