Hall of Fame Award

Congratulations to our Rowan One Ward, Nursing and Medical Team at Highbury Hospital who have been nominated for a Royal College of Psychiatrists, Trent Division Hall of Fame Award. Congratulations also to Dr Niraj Singh, Consultant Psychiatrist who also features on the Winter Hall of Fame.

The Rowan One Ward Team was put forward by Dr Akif Ali Khan, Specialist Registrar.

They were nominated for the hard work that they have put in during the pandemic in general, but specifically during the covid outbreaks on the ward over this time. They tailored the ward environment to their needs whilst ensuring the focus was on keeping patients safe.

The medical team and nursing team also work really well together which ultimately leads to the best quality of care for our patients. The handover procedure is very robust. The ward review and ward round template is very comprehensive and gives a good summary of a patient’s story from admission to present.

All ward staff are very patient oriented and provide a good model of treatment. They look at biological, psychological, and social factors and their complex interactions in understanding health, illness, and health care delivery. This ensures the team provide the very best care.

Dr Akif Ali Khan said:

“I was thrilled to see team have been recognised in award. The medical team headed by Dr Seedat as consultant, myself as specialist registrar and other junior doctors that we have, put a lot of hard work in making sure that the physical health as well as mental health is looked after accordingly, especially as over the last year, we have had some pretty complicated patients (with physical health needs) admitted to an acute psychiatric ward. Our focus is always on providing the best care for our patients and it is great to have this work recognised.”

Congratulations must also go to to Dr Imad Kaddoura, Healthcare Support Worker, Hannah Farrell, Health Care Support Worker and Darren Keating, Community Psychiatric Nurse, who were previously nominated and featured on the Royal College of Psychiatrists Summer Hall of Fame.

Darren said: "It is quite humbling to have been nominated by our Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Priya, especially as both Hannah and I are not Dr’s… so being accepted on the Royal College’s Wall of Fame for Hannah and I is, I think, an incredible achievement worthy of celebration." They were the only staff who weren't doctors to feature.

Well done all.
