International Nurses’ Day takes place on 12 May and is an opportunity for us to celebrate and thank all our nursing colleagues who provide care for our patients when they are at their most vulnerable and who make a difference to their lives and the lives of their families and loved ones.
Nursing is such a privilege and to be a part of someone’s lives, helping them on their road to recovery is such a special moment. We’re sharing some shining examples of nursing care by our colleagues, which you can read below. If you’ve felt inspired and are interested in joining the Nottinghamshire Healthcare family, you can find everything you need to know at https://recruitment.nottshc.nhs.uk/.
We are very proud of Danielle Thompson, our Team Leader for Cardio-Respiratory Services, North Notts, who has won a Cavell Star Award.
An inspiring national awards programme, Cavell Star Awards are given to nurses, midwives, nursing associates and healthcare assistants who shine bright and show exceptional care to one of three groups of people, their colleagues, their patients or patients’ families.
Danielle was nominated by staff from the Cardio-Respiratory Bassetlaw team, which is part of the North Notts Team. The team nominated Danielle as she shines bright and shows exceptional care for patients, their families, and the team. She is the person that puts her arm around the whole team to support them.
Danielle said: “I feel overwhelmed and amazed that they nominated me, let alone receiving one. For me personally it is a huge achievement, and I am very proud of it. Definitely one of the highlights in my nursing career”
Becky Sutton, Executive Director of Community Health Services said:
“Congratulations to Danielle on this fantastic achievement. She is very highly thought of by her team for the exceptional care she provides and the support she provides the team. She is thoroughly deserving of this award. Well done Danielle.”
