Carly's work experience journey!

Carly recently undertook a work placement in the Communications Team. You can hear how she got on below.

"Hello! I'm Carly Kung, currently a GCSE student and I had the opportunity to spend a week with the Communications Team at Notts Healthcare. I am interested in both healthcare and media, so this placement gave me insights in these areas and understanding the importance of this team in supporting staff members and patients. I also gained transferrable skills such as planning communication and market campaigns.

"Before the placement I didn't realise how much work goes on behind the scenes to shape the public profile of NHS. However, during the time here, I have discovered how marketing campaigns, recognising staff achievements and media monitoring allow the reputation of the trust to be upheld. I have also met a lot of professionals that are dedicated and passionate about their job. This week I created some posters to raise the awareness of teenager's mental health and had the opportunity to be creative. I especially enjoyed photography because it allowed me to capture beautiful scenery and create art with it."

Carly continued: "I'm grateful for everyone in team for teaching me and allowing me to discover my potential in different fields. This week has been both beneficial and educational."

Toni Smith, Head of Communications said, "Carly is friendly, hardworking and very bright. She has an aptitude for communications and got involved in all aspects of it! By the end of the week, she had even created some fabulous posters and social media assets for a young people's mental health campaign. Carly is very creative, she did some great illustrations when designing her posters. She also went the extra mile and got some real-life experiences from young people managing issues with their mental wellbeing to support the campaign. She particularly enjoyed photography and has taken some brilliant pictures. We all really enjoyed meeting and hosting Carly. I received lots of positive feedback about her creativity, happy disposition and the quality of the work she produced."

Toni continued, "Work experience placements like this are incredibly valuable as they provide students with a real insight into the industry, help them develop practical skills, and inspire the next generation of professionals. We wish Carly all the best for future studies."
